BUSTI — The New Stateline Speedway celebrated its annual Autograph/Fan Appreciation Night on a pleasant Saturday evening as the famed southwestern New York oval recorded night No. 11 of the 2023 season.

Feature winners on the evening were: Jason Black in the Pro Stocks, Troy Johnson in the UMP Modifieds, Zain Harvey in the RUSH Pro Mods, Dave Hess Jr. in the Super Late Models, Dylan Greene in the Challengers, Jason Genco in the RUSH Crate Late Models and Chris Whyte in the Sharp Mini Late Models.

Black of Spring Creek, Pennsylvania, has become the man to beat in Stateline’s Pro Stock Division. Black would hold off a fierce last-lap challenge from William Reeves to go on to pick up his third Stateline Pro Stock win of the season. Reeves, after a valiant last-lap effort, would have to settle for second as Shane Applebee, Tanner Ramsey and Bill Applebee would complete the top five.

Multi-time champ Greg Johnson looked like he was on his way to picking up his first UMP Modified win of the season, until Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania’s Troy Johnson would grab the lead on lap 12 and never look back.

Troy Johnson would lead the remaining eight laps for his first Stateline UMP Modified win of the season. David Scott would make a late-race surge to finish second. Dennis Lunger, a two-time winner in 2023, was third, Greg Johnson would fade late in the race finishing fourth and veteran Butch Southwell would round out the top five.

Harvey of Eldred, Pennsylvania, will tell you himself, that he’s had quite a roller coaster season in 2023. Harvey would not be denied on this evening, leading all 20 laps and holding off a fierce challenge from 2022 champion Dennis Lunger to pick up his second Stateline RUSH Pro Mod win of the season. Lunger would ride home second. Brendan Warner, in one of his best runs to date, was third, Tyler Oakes fourth and Chad Ramsey would round out the top five. Points leader Steve Dixon, after initially finishing fifth, would be disqualified for not going to the scales after the completion of the event.

It was all Hess Jr. in Super Late Model action. Hess would lead flag to flag to pick up his 41st career Stateline Super Late Model win. Hess now stands alone in fourth on Stateline’s Super Late Models all-time winners list. Frewsburg’s Jason Genco would finish in the bridesmaid spot. Darrell Bossard would have another podium finish, finishing third. June 10 winner Bob Dorman was fourth and three-time track champ Dutch Davies was fifth.

Greene has been fast the entire second half of the season and would finally find himself in victory lane for his first Stateline Challenger win of 2023. Following Greene across the stripe would be Rick Feely, Jon Seekings, Brady McIntyre and Phil Powell.

Genco would use his signature outside move to muscle the lead from David Parker on lap 12 to go on to pick up his third Stateline RUSH Crate Late Model win of the season. This would also be Genco’s 16th career Stateline win in the division, making him second on the all-time winners list behind Crate Late Model standout Max Blair. Following the No. 29J at the checkereds would be Randy Hall, David Parker, Matt Sipes and Khole Wanzer.

The SHARP Mini Late Models would be the nightcap. Warren, Pennsylvania’s Chris Whyte, after a little bit of a slump, would go on to pick up the win in the Stateline Sharp Mini Late Models a-main. Terry Mealy, Jess Isadore, multi-winner Ryan Card and Treyton White would complete the top five.
